Bentz Vineyard lies in a less traveled area of Napa County, beautifully situated for growing Sauvignon Blanc grapes. The land sits at the foot of Howell Mountain, where the Vaca range provides shelter from the influence of the ocean. Days are warm and nights are cool from bud break to harvest. This dramatic “diurnal shift” gives our wine bold, vivid fruit flavors with an elegant balance and well-rounded acidity.
Our grapes are protected from the sun by a lush canopy, meticulously architectured to shade the fruit and allow cooling winds to circulate freely through the vines. The vineyard is divided into three blocks, each planted in a different clone of Sauvignon Blanc, including Sauvignon Musqué. While all three clones contribute to AURELIA’s elegant complexity, Sauvignon Musqué adds a subtle richness and delicate floral overtones that must be tasted to be appreciated.
